Sun Serpent Re-Issues First 2 Freak Seed Releases
Sun Serpent is proud to announce the next installment in their 'Re-issue Series', now showcasing Freak Seed's 1996 debut ep "Grout" and their first full-length "Forward the Foundation" from 1997, both available now for the first time on CD & mp3.
Recorded in 1995 and released on cassette through Slow Death Records in 1996, Freak Seed's "Grout" ep was their introduction into the local metal underground scene as well as overseas due to the then still existent tape trading circuit. "Grout" originally consisted of just four songs (three of which remained on their live setlist indefinitely) but has been expanded for the re-issue to five songs with the inclusion of "Reactivate (Hearing Lies Remix)", a track composed back in 1996 by original bassist Joe Yutsus.
"Forward the Foundation" saw only a limited release back in 1997 on Slow Death, as Freak Seed were already preparing to enter the studio to record the follow-up, "Ignition". Due to the close proximity of these releases, as well as the changeover to Sun Serpent, a small group of songs that appeared on "Forward" would end up being used on "Ignition" as well. This re-issue presents these tracks in their original mix and also includes "What You Need" and "Without All", two favorites that were inexplicably left off "Ignition."
Both re-issues are available now on CD or digital download through your favorite on-line retailer.
