Firestorm Deliver Scorching New LP to Close Out 2019
Picking up where 2017's "Raging Inferno" left off, New Jersey thrash metal stalwarts Firestorm return with their third full-length release "Raining Fire". The same blistering sonic venom that fueled their previous effort continues to reverberate with nine new tracks just waiting to bleed through your speakers. And the same can be said for the sociopolitical content which is just as intent on exposing the cracks and cover-ups in our decayed and corrupt system.
In their ongoing crusade to bring cognizance to the masses, drummer Robert Nichols, bassist Mike Clarey and guitarist-vocalist-lyricist Kevin Nichols continue to deliver critical warnings in a variety of ways. Whether it be the foreboding premonition of "Burning Sky", the metaphorical caution in "Scrying Mirror", or the face value approach to "Side Effects", the message always comes across loud and clear.
"A Scrying Mirror is used in witchcraft," explains Robert. "It is a black mirror, and that is exactly what your TV, computer screen, or cell phone is. They program the images that teach you what to think, how to behave, what to believe. They reinvent history and create false narratives. That is a major problem with today's zombie society."
The album closer "Side Effects" takes on the pharmaceutical industry. "Harmful drugs and useless vaccines are prescribed for profit," Robert elaborates, "keeping you sick while taking your money, selling their poison to treat the illness they are creating. And there never really is any intention to cure."
Like "Raging Inferno" the ideas conveyed on this collection only show that, on whichever side of the debate your belief lies, we can no longer turn a blind eye to the many problems of present society. With "Raining Fire" Firestorm deliver a pulverizing exclamation point on what may very well be their final release.
Final release? Well, Robert can only say "Who knows what will happen next?"
Needless to say that although a band called Firestorm may be offering up it's swan song, the band members themselves still have plenty more to say. As a hardworking, old school, blue collar thrash outfit doing it DIY-style for nearly a decade now, they have currently been exploring other sounds which they plan to harness and eventually release. But before they undertake this new path, the boys have given us "Raining Fire" as a final warning for a lethargic insensate population.
