"Split Series" Debut to Ignite Sept 30, 2014
New Jersey's metal/hardcore outfit FIRESTORM and Florida's death/grind/doom duo CARRION WITCH join forces on the inaugural volume of the "Sun Serpent Split Series" set to drop this fall.
"Sun Serpent Split Series Vol.I" will feature two bands that, albeit 1,000 miles apart, share a long history and friendship.
"I've known the guys in Firestorm for a long time," says Dave of Carrion Witch, "I'm talking 25-plus years now, back to freshman year in high school. So I'm honored we get to kick off the first volume of this series with them."
Brothers Robert & Kevin Nichols had previously worked with Dave in the early 90's while writing & performing with psychedelic/metal band THE SOCIETY OF THE MIND, then again in '95 when Dave played bass for Rob & Kev's band POWER PLANT on their opening slot for metal legends, DEATH. A few years later, while performing with FREAK SEED, Dave would share a stage with Mike Clarey & Erik Christenson's band RAWHEAD.
"I've always kept an ear on what they were doing up there in Jersey after I moved to Florida," continues Dave. "So when I heard that Rob & Kev hooked up with Mike & Erik to form Firestorm, it turned out to be the first time in a long while that we were all actively recording heavy projects simultaneously. It felt right and it made sense to share this release with them."
The September 30th release date comes just six months after the release of Carrion Witch's full-length "Those of Whom I Speak", and a little over a year since Firestorm unleashed their eponymous debut.
